For the past months, I’ve been my mother’s full-time caretaker as she recovers from double knee replacement surgery. It’s been both a blessing and a challenge — an experience that’s deepened my understanding of love, patience, and responsibility. While I wouldn’t trade the time spent helping her heal, it’s been financially overwhelming. Because I had to step away from steady work to care for her, I’ve fallen three months behind on rent, and now my landlord is threatening eviction if I can’t pay the full amount soon. I’ve tried to keep up with bills as best I can, but the cost of living and expenses have made that nearly impossible. I’m a creative professional transitioning from the service industry into a career in design and the arts — a path I’ve been working hard to build toward. I’m determined to get back on my feet, but right now, I need some help just to stay housed and stable while I continue rebuilding. I’ve never been comfortable asking for help, especially from strangers, but this situation has left me with few options.
