My name is Sydni, and I’m a senior at Bowie State University majoring in communications with a concentration in broadcast journalism. I’ve worked hard to build a future in journalism, serving as the head reporter for BSU TV News and interning at places like CBS News and the Capital Emmys. I’m also deeply involved on campus, holding leadership roles such as NABJ Chapter President, Chaplain of the Greek Life Council, and Committee Chairwoman for Alpha Kappa Alpha’s Uplift Our Local Communities initiative. These experiences have shaped my passion for storytelling and my commitment to making a difference in my community.

Unfortunately, I’m facing unexpected financial challenges that are putting my final semester at risk. Despite my efforts, I’ve been denied student loans multiple times and don’t have the funds to cover the remaining costs. This setback is especially difficult because I’m so close to graduating and starting my career as a news reporter or anchor. Completing my degree is the last step I need to take before I can fully pursue my dreams and give back to the community that has supported me.
