We are writing today with a call for support for a beloved member of our dance music community who is experiencing times of difficulty. Our dear friend Sybil Jason has been a voice in the international dance music community for almost 2 decades. A Black Haitian woman born in NYC, active across multiple generations of dance music history, she has brought her distinct expression of her diaspora to audiences around the world on top of being a part of NYC nightlife for 18+ years.

For months now, Sybil and her mom have been facing a negligent and racist landlord attempting to displace their family in their home for nearly 30 years. However, they have begun to show the apartment to unmasked strangers without warning since January and continue neglecting unsafe conditions, which caused Sybil's mother to sustain an injury at home. These apartment showings have been incredibly disruptive, placing two high-risk people in danger. In addition, Sybil's existing chronic illness has been exacerbated by the circumstances with a recent brain injury. As the sole source of representation and support in the family, the confluence of all these stressors has continued to deteriorate her health and well-being and made financial recourse incredibly difficult.

Sybil is a benevolent, open, and loving person who has given her all to music and her community for decades. Unfortunately, in this moment, the racist and capitalist systems driving employment - housing - and healthcare are making her and her mother’s lives incredibly difficult, so we are requesting aid to help them survive and thrive and move past this situation.

We are requesting $15,000 to support Sybil and her mother. This amount will be life-shifting for them in this moment of need. It will allow funding for relocation, health care, transportation, and overall quality of life that they are so sorely lacking currently.

**Please note that Sybil requests privacy as her family navigates this precarious situation. Please refrain from reaching out to Sybil about this fundraiser as they are already at capacity and currently healing from their recent injury for the past two weeks**
