Hi All-
My Husband and I adopted our sweet Remi last summer at 4 months old. Remi was rescued from Mexico and lived with her foster family until we found her and brought her to her forever home.
At eight months, Remi started to show signs of pain and discomfort- limping, lack of appetite, and low energy. We took her in to be evaluated and found out she has luxating patella’s in both of her back legs- a defect she was born with. Additionally, she has fluid in both knees, indicating she needs work on both ACLs. We also found out that Remi has extra bone growth in her spine, which is untreatable, but will cause severe pain for the rest of her life. Although we are unable to provide treatment to her spine, we are going to provide treatment to her back legs.
After multiple visits to multiple Vet Clinics, we have been quoted $15,000-$17,000 to repair her back legs. This is not an expense we planned for, nor can we afford, but is a surgery that Remi needs in order to provide her comfort.
Remi’s doctor will not perform this surgery until she is 15-18 months old, he wants to ensure she is fully grown prior to the surgery to prevent an additional surgery.
My Husband and I want to take these few months to fundraise as much as we can so we can financially support Remi in her time of need.
Remi is the sweetest girl and deserves the best life and we are determined to give that to her. Remi has been our savior after losing our girl, Kota, last March. Remi has filled our hearts with so much comfort and joy- it’s our obligation to do the same.
