Help Support Two Homeless Youth

My name is Monet. I and my friend, Catty, have been struggling with homelessness for the past six years after fleeing abusive homes and have been forced into unsafe housing situations just to have shelter. We were just forced to leave a dangerous housing situation and are temporarily staying with relatives, but it’s not a safe home for us, and they have made it clear we are not welcome for much longer. We are both in immediate danger of being kicked out onto the streets, and of being pursued by one of our family members who wishes us harm. This person is motivated by racism and homophobia and has left us voicemails saying that she knows where we are and is coming to find us, and we don’t know how long we have until that happens. 


We have been searching for jobs, but the pandemic has made it very difficult to find one. We are currently in the process of trying to get a new state ID for Catty (hers was stolen by our previous roommate) so that we are better able to apply for housing and jobs, but these goals are difficult to achieve with no money or stable shelter. In the short term, we are trying to find a shelter or temporary place that is safe to stay, but we are in dire need of immediate help in order to feed ourselves and escape our current home. We have always struggled on our own and don’t ask for help, but at this dangerous time, we could really use some support from our community. 

We would use the donations received to help improve our life during this time as we are at risk of losing our shelter very soon and only have a temporary amount of time at the shelter we are currently at we would then look for available rooms or apartments in San Diego alongside working in San Diego to continue living here in a safe environment.
