Help support Todd McElwee

Friends and family,

Thank you for asking how you can help Todd McElwee and his family.  Here is the latest update from Todd:

Thank you all for your generosity and support. My family and I are forever in your debt.

On Jan. 14, I was discharged from MedStar Georgetown Hospital and admitted to an acute rehabilitation hospital at Adventist Shady Grove Medical Center. It’s a great place to recover, and I anticipate spending approximately two weeks here doing intensive OT/PT before returning home to begin outpatient rehab.

As for my Cavernoma, my hemorrhaging is stable with the team of neurosurgeons at Georgetown monitoring my condition. Cavernoma is an abnormal cluster of capillaries and venules (tiny blood vessels) that periodically bleed and give rise to a "popcorn-like" lesion in the brain or spinal cord with very thin walls that contains blood of different ages. Mine is located within the middle of the brain stem in a very risky area to remove via operation.

The support Angela, Evie, Declan and I have received on this webpage and elsewhere is tremendous and humbling. Thank you all, and I’ll keep you posted on my progress.

God Bless and Cheers!

Also, thank you Anna and Jeb Beaver for starting this fundraiser.
