Help Support The Pirates

Meet The Pirates.  A team that never has played together before this season.  A team of 11-13 year olds that have developed a brotherhood and refused to play without each other.

At the beginning of our season, we were part of the Pop Warner Football Association.  However, due to weight restrictions (that we were told to ignore at the beginning of the season) we were being forced to drop five of our players.  This is after these players have been practicing together for three weeks. Instead of allowing their fellow teammates to be kicked off of their team, the team stood together and united refusing anyone to be dropped from their roster.  These amazing young people showed the true meaning of camraderie and stated that if they all don't play, then no one plays.

As parents, we saw how important this season was to our children.  We are impressed and in awe of these phenomenal athletes and decided to see what we could do to give them the season they have been working so hard for.  We decided to take action.

We immediately reached out to the league commissioner to request our team to be classified as "unlimited" so that weight wouldn't matter and our kids could still play their season.  (the weight requirements are as follows: no player age 12 could weigh more than 155 pounds and no player age 13 could weight more than 135.  None of our kids weighed more than 170 pounds.)

The commissioner could not grant our request and informed us we had to cut our kids.  We then took our concern to the President of Inland Northwest Pop Warner.  He tried working with us and even took our request to the National level.  The National level just continued to drag this request out resulting in us missing our first game due to our players not be certified to play because of weight.  When our national request was rejected we were informed that our players who were over weight had to be immediately removed from our roster and we would continue the season with 11 players.  If we refused to drop the players, then we would need to turn our equipment in tonight to receive our refunds as there was no more team...

We turned our equipment in, but we are still The Pirates.  We just needed a league to call our own.

With losing our league we reached out to the YMCA to see if they had room for a football team with heart that is looking for a home to call their own.  The YMCA welcomed us with open arms, however due to scholarships no longer being available for the players who cannot afford to play... we are coming up short to pay for our team for the season.

We are asking for support from our friends, family, and community to help keep our kids together.  To help this group of young people who are demonstrating what it means to be a team.

If you would love to be part of our miracle, please donate to our team to help pay for us to play this season.  We are truly grateful for any amount and extremely appreciative.

Thank you.
