12 years ago my mother Vicki and I started this amazing pet drive. We wanted to do something for the hundreds of animals in need at shelters during the holidays. We wanted to be able to donate to local shelters and give the animals a little something cheerful at Christmas time. A new bed, a new toy or that Christmas treat. We wanted to donate food to the shelters to feed the animals, or supplies. We wanted to donate as much as we could and make the animals in the shelters a little more comfortable during the holidays. Because HOLIDAYS ARE FOR PETS TOO! With all the generous donations and help from all of the pet lovers over the years, we were and are able to do just what we intended to do. Every year we start collecting donations from the first of December to the end of January. We collected all pet supplies, food, toys, beds, treats etc. We also collected monetary donations, which we took all the money collected and went shopping for the shelter! We did the shopping for the shelters right before we were in route to take the truckload of donations that have been collected from all the generous donating people! We would try to buy out all the stores in the area with pet beds to take to the shelters. Last year we bought over 100 pet beds to take to the shelter and over 200 toys with the money collected!! We also asked the local shelters what they may be in need of and took the money donations and bought specific things the shelter is in need of. Every penny is spent in pet supplies. This year the animals need our support and donations more than ever. The shelters are exceeding their capacity with animals and the shelter supplies are extremely low. In spite of all the unforeseen circumstances this year, we are asking for monetary donations from our generous animal lovers. We will take all the money donations and send it to the local animal shelters in need. We appreciate you all so much, and have high hopes that we will make this a great year for the pets. We are extending the drive this year. We will be collecting from December to February 1st. We are so happy to collaborate this wonderful pet drive! The feeling of giving to these furry friends in need is beyond words. They did not choose to be in an animal shelter during the holidays or in a shelter at all for that point. Unfortunately, we can't reach all the shelters or animals, but even if we help one shelter and a handful of furry friends we are on the right track. And we absolutely could not do this drive without the help of all the amazing people who donate. My mother and I are so thankful for each and every one of you who donate. Thank you for helping the animals in need this holiday season! With all this being said we wanted to try to reach more caring people and expand the drive this year. We would love to try to get more greathearted people involved in donating. Even if we reach just one more person to donate, it’s one more animal in the shelter with a toy or bed! Whether you have local roots (where the pet drive donations are collected) and have moved away, or live locally and its more convenient to donate online.... or maybe you just love animals and have read this story and want to donate to a great cause. Because, remember it does not matter where or what part of the states the animals are in, they all deserve that toy or treat or most importantly feeling loved this holiday season!
