Help Support Taylor’s Fight Against Cancer

This fundraiser is being set up for Taylor and Scott Dibley to help support their family during Taylor’s battle against leukemia. Taylor turned 29 years old on March 13, 2020, the same day their son, Jack, turned 1. Anyone who knows Taylor, knows she is an amazing mother, friend, daughter and sister who would do anything for her family and friends.

During the week of March 9, 2020, Taylor was sick with what we thought was the flu. On March 20, Taylor’s fever returned and she fainted a couple of times at their home, so Scott took her to the emergency room at Stonewall & District Health Centre. The hospital staff did bloodwork and found her hemoglobin and platelets to be low. Taylor was taken to HSC via ambulance later that day. She had a bone marrow aspiration done and eventually received platelet and blood transfusions. She was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer called Mixed Phenotype Acute Leukemia shortly after.

*UPDATE* After some further lab work, the doctors have changed the diagnosis to Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).

Taylor is currently on D6 (isolation ward), where she has not been able to have any visitors since she was admitted into the hospital. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital is not allowing anyone to visit as well as not accepting any care packages. She has been battling this completely alone, being away from her baby boy for the first time. She began chemotherapy on March 21 and will continue to receive treatment without leaving the hospital for another few weeks. Once she is able to go home, she will continue her treatments through Cancer Care. The projected treatment plan is 6-12 months.

Due to this prognosis, Taylor is unable to work. Scott is currently off work to take care of Jack, as daycare is not set to start until later this year. This fundraiser will help Taylor and Scott with the unexpected expenses as well as ensure their family can solely focus on Taylor beating this disease.
