Help Support Sidney #cancersucks

Sidney is a 29 year old single mom to 10 month old Gage. Unfortunately Sidney has recently been diagnosed with Chromophobe RCC- Kidney cancer which is actually a rare type of kidney cancer to begin with and even more rare to be seen in someone so young. A few months after Gage was born, Sidney’s medical insurance was terminated due to her income and being a single mom making her eligible for Medi-cal. Sidney then tried to enroll in Blue Cross but complication after complication occurred leaving her without medical insurance. During the process of finding medical insurance Sidney became sick forcing her to seek medical attention. Because of the lack of insurance she agreed to go to urgent care where the Dr sent her to the ER for appendicitis. They rushed her to a CT scan where they didn’t find appendicitis but instead a tumor on her right kidney. After the discovery of the tumor Sidney had to have more tests and scans done. After a couple of visits to the ER and imaging centers for high contrast CT and MRI Sidney finally was able to get herself medical insurance with Medi-cal. Unfortunately Drs kept turning her away, no one wanted to take Medi-cal but her family was desperate and started paying out of pocket just to get a specialist to take the time to see her. Fast forward a bit and Sidney now has medical insurance with Medi-cal and a great Dr who will be performing robotic surgery to remove her right kidney on December 28th. On January 1st Sidney will have Blue Shield costing almost $1000 a month because she will have to under go treatment and scans through 2018 monitoring her left kidney. However, because of pain and discomfort Sidney has been out of work and will continue to be out of work for another 6 weeks after surgery to recover. Help Sidney and her family this Christmas with medical bills before her medical insurance and recovery. Anything helps her and her little boy. Let’s all remember that it’s the holiday season.
