HELP SUPPORT SADE'S CHILDREN

Donation protected
My beautiful sister Sade is a 32-year-old single mother who, approximately two months ago, was diagnosed with Metastatic Adenocarcinoma, an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer.  Despite her recent diagnosis, her symptoms emerged approximately 10 months ago, during her most recent pregnancy. During that time, Sade experienced numerous anomalous symptoms. She attempted to advocate for herself with her physicians and pleaded for them to run tests to assess her condition. However, as is common with many poor women of color, her doctors refused to take heed to her concerns and insisted her symptoms were pregnancy-related.

My family eventually had Sade transferred to New York Presbyterian Hospital where she received her diagnosis; however, due to her many months of non-treatment, her cancer had progressed to the point where the doctors stated they could not provide further treatment. My family and I have been caring for her as best as we can at home, and have pooled our resources to ensure we have the adequate supplies we need to do so. Lately, Sade has been verbally non-responsive, often does not awaken for days, cannot breathe independently (is on an oxygen machine), and has been experiencing seizures. Despite her current condition and the doctors' belief she has fewer than weeks to live, Sade continues to inspire us through her daily strength, faith in God, and refusal to let go.

Sade has five beautiful children: ages 5 months, 13 months, 9, 11, and 14, all of whom are being cared for by immediate family, and for whom she was the sole provider. They are unquestionably impacted the most by Sade's current situation, and we are doing the best we can to maintain a sense of normalcy for them all. However, we are asking for donations to help with the expenses my family has incurred providing their care. Additionally, and most importantly, we are hoping this fund helps us provide the children with experiences to lift their spirits and provide them with any counseling/emotional services they may need. This has been particularly difficult for them with the holidays emerging,  and we would like to uphold traditions that Sade started with them. It is a priority for our family to provide the children with a life of normalcy and quality care.

We will continue to speak life, and not death, into Sade, and will continue to rely on our faith to see us through this difficult time. If nothing else, we hope this fund encourages people, particularly women of color, to advocate for their health, and to never feel guilty doing so. Thank you in advance for any support, encouragement, and kind words you are able to provide. A little goes a long way <3
