Please help me support my best friend, Elisabeth Haffner, and her boyfriend Riley who has been faced with more than most of us will endure in our lifetime.
Riley Sorenson went to El Paso, Texas to play in the Sun Bowl on December 26, 2015. As the team entered the tunnel, Riley, a Washington State University center, was pulled aside by his coach and told that his father had suffered from a heart attack as he was entering the stadium. Ten days later, Riley's father, Bart Sorenson, passed away at the age of 49.
Four months later, Riley's mother Karen Sorenson, also 49, passed away after a long battle with cancer.
Incomprehensibly, five months after his father's death, and three days after his mother's funeral, Riley himself was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He underwent surgery, and returned to WSU to play football, and finish his degree.
Unfortunately, just as he is finishing his last course upon graduating, Riley's cancer has returned.
An abdominal tumor was detected on June 20th. On Monday, Riley will begin four rounds of chemotherapy, six days after being diagnosed with the recurrence.
The loss of both parents, testicular cancer, and now a second battle with cancer - all in a period of 18 months.
