On Tuesday 3/17/20 we made the heart-breaking decision to temporarily close our restaurant, Gaskins for the safety of our family, staff, guests and community during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are located in Germantown, NY.
Many of our team showed up for work while we remained open and offered so much kindness, resiliency and care. While it was such a hard decision to close, we felt it was the best way to protect our restaurant family and the public at this moment.
We've done our best to provide as much paid time off to our staff as we can, but it will not be enough. Many will have to file for unemployment. And that will not be enough.
Everything is still so uncertain, and government relief is still unclear. While we hope to get our doors back open as soon as possible, we want to take whatever measures we can to help our amazing team in this interim.
Many of you have asked how to help, or offered to purchase gift certificates. Instead we ask you to consider a donation to our staff. 100% of donations will go directly to them and will be divided equally. These donated funds will help our employees pay bills, rent, buy food and take care of themselves while they are out of work. There are special gifts available for your generosity.
We have 19 employees who have been laid off because of COVID-19. The money raised here will be equally divided between all employees 19 employees of Gaskins. No funds will go to the owners. Once we receive these funds into our bank account from gofundme, we will send payment to our employees via check or Venmo.
