Bailey will be 5 years old on the 17th of November.
He was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour ( anaplastic ependymoma ) in 2016 at just 8 months old. He spent around 2 months in hospital having treatment before he was allowed home. Since then has had countless brain operations for shunts and tumour resections. Followed by an 18 month round of chemotherapy. At the end of his treatment the scan showed he had relapsed so then he next had to go to America for proton therapy treatment in 2018. He spent 9 weeks there and was clear for the following 2 years untill it returned this year for the third time.
Bailey has development delays, he cant walk, talk and also has a vision impairment. He has got a shunt that drains fluid from his head. Bailey also has a feeding tube ( PEG ) as he is not able to eat orally.
A few weeks ago Bailey started vomiting again and that is where this dreaded journey started once more. He has been in hospital undergoing tests and scans,etc. His health has deteriated over this time and we have been given the devastating news that the tumour has returned. He now has a long surgery ahead of him tomorrow to remove the tumour. Followed by a treatment plan from his consultant.
Bailey also has two other siblings at home Amelia aged 7 and Elilah aged 1. All the family and also his sisters are affected by this terrible news. Lauren, Baileys mother is trying her best to be there for Bailey whilst also caring for the girls.
Hopefully we can raise as much funds as we can to support Bailey and his family through this journey. Living at the hospital and trying to keep life normal for the girls at the same time is so hard. The cost of traveling and living expenses at the hospital is going to be very difficult for the family. Due to Covid 19 restrictions its even harder for other family members to support Bailey and his parents. Even if we can lighten the financial burden by giving what ever we can they will really appreciate it. If you cannot help then we will be gratefull if you can hold Bailey in your prayers.
