At Fernvalley Wildlife Centre, we specialise in offering a forever home for rescue animals that have been abused, abandoned or neglected.
Unfortunately, as with many animal establishments around the world, with the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic we are being put under intense pressure to try and fund our animals essential care.
At Fernvalley our main concern during the crisis is electricity. Unable to simply close our doors and switch everything off, our bills remain the same with no income coming in from our loyal visitors.
Our animals, of which many come from hot, humid environments such as South America, need heat to be able to survive and live happily. Heaters are running for our 75 animals 24hrs a day 365 days a year.
Unfortunately, animal keepers are not considered keyworkers which restricts our movements in and out of the centre and means that we have had to temporarily lay off staff to allow them to get 80% of their wages. Thankfully we are a family business, and we have been all isolating together on site to be there for our animals at this critical time. We are taking shifts to try and let us have one day off a week.
Funds from this fundraiser are being used solely to feed our animals, pay for their heating and lighting and try to buy them the odd treat such as a snack or even simply a new ball toy to play with.
Just 50p can buy a bag of carrots which can last a week, £5 can buy a new toy for an animal or pay for our green iguanas heating for 2 days. £10 can buy a two week supply of live insects for our lizards.
Whatever you can give we are indescribably grateful for your support in these unprecendented times. So, THANK YOU.
