Help keep our doors open!!!

Update;
We thank everyone for their support. We are continuing our efforts to keep Miss Susan's legacy alive and our mission of teaching classical dance in a nurturing environment and making dance more accessible to more young artists. Being a small business we still need help spreading the word to build our community. Current donations are being used to continue these efforts of expanding our community and program.

As many of our friends, family, and dance community know our old building was purchased by new landlords in February 2019. That summer our current 11 year lease was ending and thankfully the new building owners agreed to extend our lease allowing us to stay in business. However due to our very small budget as an arts organization we had to reduce our space in order to stay in our budget for monthly rent; losing our large parent viewing area, playroom for younger siblings as they waited while their siblings were in class, kitchen, large front office/welcome desk, and large front lobby where we would often host events after our shows. After our lease was extended for a year we were able to negotiate an extra year with the understanding that we would need to move out by the start of the 2021/2022 school year. We had some hiccups during our new construction so luckily our old landlords allowed us to stay for a few more months however this move was our only option for staying in business and carrying on my moms legacy.

Being a small arts organization, moving is difficult as we do not have the budget or funds to afford construction (new studio, studio flooring, dressing rooms, bathrooms, offices, parent viewing area, transporting & installing our glass observation wall, etc.). Moving to stay in business is something we absolutely had to do, closing our doors was just not an option. Not only do we have a unique program as we try to preserve classical dance techniques but we also try to do so in a loving and welcoming environment from an educational perspective. We also feel that it is our mission to carry on the legacy that our Founding Director and beloved Miss Susan left behind. When Miss Susan passed the number of messages we received from former students and alum saying how much she changed their lives was overwhelming. This is what the arts is truly about especially for young people; it fosters creativity (a fundamental part of intellectual development), it provides an emotional outlet to children who may not have access to that environment at school or home, and builds friendships that last a lifetime.

We thank everyone who has continued to support us over the years especially while Miss Susan was sick. Your donation means a lot to us as it will help us stay in business as well as help cover construction & rent costs.
