5 Years ago I got the opportunity to go to my very first DCI show and was amazed by the sounds, the colors, and the passion that radiated through the performers I saw on the field. I had a goal that I would one day be one of those performers I looked up so much to. Fast forward to now I have officially been very grateful to be contracted by River City Rhythm Drum and Bugle Corps as a mellophone player!
You may be asking what DCI is, DCI stands for Drum Corps international and its basically marching band on steroids. For the summer over 150 kids travel around the U.S rehearsing and participating in various competitions. As much as it's a lot of fun it also teaches hard work, discipline, time management, and problem solving. It is a very big honor to participate in something so huge. DCI has always been a huge part of my life ever since I saw a show, it filled me with motivation, inspiration, and most importantly love. I love music and the marching arts with all my heart, I couldn't imagine my life without it.
It is a known fact that DCI can cost a big price to participate, my tuition fees are around 3,200 dollars and adding all the other fees such as flights and necessities for the road it can become a lot. As a senior in highschool paying it all by myself can be tricky, and all the profits go towards my personal funding. So I am asking for your help, even if it's just a dollar or you share this with a loved one anything and everything helps. Please share this around! Thank you for your time and please consider donating!
