<div>Our little one, <strong>Myah, was born with a severe congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome</strong>, a condition where the left ventricle does not fully form in-utero, essentially resulting in her being born with half a working heart.

<div>HLHS is considered one of the more severe and complex of the CHDs. While there is no cure for HLHS, there are surgical workarounds that can help extend her life. Without surgical intervention, babies born with HLHS will die within days to weeks after birth. Myah will need a series of three open-heart surgeries so that her right ventricle will do all the work for her entire body. So far, Myah had her first open-heart surgery at just 6 days old, and her second surgery at 5 months. Now at just 2 years old, she is scheduled to get her third and hopefully final surgery this upcoming July 2026.

<div>When Myah had her first two procedures she was on medicaid and her medical costs were covered. She has since been kicked off Medicaid and has been denied every time we reapplied. We have insurance, but even with insurance, the medical bills have already been overwhelming. I, myself, am also currently facing job insecurity in my current role, as it was announced my company will be undergoing restructuring and possible layoffs will be taking place in August 2026. I am taking FMLA in July for Myah's surgery, and it is unclear if I will have a job to come back to once my leave is over.

<div>One thing about Myah is that she has shown nothing but strength during this time. Her sweet and spicy personality has remained unphased. As a mother, I am trying my best to show strength for not only her but her older sister Leah, who has seen her baby sister have to go through things no kid should ever have to go through. But with the upcoming surgery, long hospital stay, trips between home, the hospital, and the Ronald McDonald House, worrying about my job, and figuring out pet-sitting arrangements, and more, it's been an extremely stressful time for our family as a whole, and finding that strength has become harder and harder as the stress piles up.

<div><strong>We are asking for some financial relief as we navigate and figure out our new normal for these next few months.</strong> We have such an amazing support system, and we are eternally grateful for the help we've received in the past and any help we might get in the future.
