The St. Patrick's Day Parade was first held in 1996. Organized by some Irish people and friends in Munich. The event was planned for 200 people, 3000 came - after that it was clear: The parade in honor of Ireland's national saint will become a tradition.

Meanwhile, many clubs and still only volunteers help with the organization: from inviting the parade participants and guests of honor, setting up the stands, catering, setting up the stage, to electricity, water, toilets, waste. With such a mass event, everything has to be thought of. After the Deutsch-Irische-Freundekreis had been the main coordinator for years, the clubs involved merged under the umbrella organization Munich-Irish-Network e.V. in 2015 and formed a parade committee.
