Help Support Melissa Dorsa Granat

In February 2014 - just a few months after her dream wedding, Melissa suffered a Grand Mal seizure that led to the discovery of a mass on her brain. After a successful surgery, she heard the one word that anyone would dread. CANCER.  Grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme. And over the last 3 1/2 years, we have all witnessed her battle this deadly disease with courage, faith, and conviction. She has been through it all. Brain surgery, radiation, losing her hair, several different types of chemo. She has continued to have seizures, 2 of which were so severe that they caused her to be temporarily paralyzed and spent 3 weeks in the hospital/rehab facility to regain her speech, walking ability, and use of her right arm. But it was this August, that Melissa and her husband Michael were given news that they definitely didn't see coming. Her MRI showed signs of something called Leptomeningeal Disease. This is a rare complication of cancer in which the disease spreads to the membranes (meninges) surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Now the problem they face, amongst all of these other trials, is the inability to pay for the new chemo her Doctors are recommending. Even with her having insurance, the MONTHLY copayment is just under $3000.00. Melissa and Michael are proud people. They have worked hard their entire lives, and don't like to ever ask for help unless it's absolutely necessary. However this is a situation where they need all the help they can get.
