Help Support Mark's Fight Against Cancer

Update, November 2022

After more than a year of being cancer-free, Mark's leukemia has just returned.

Once again, he is facing chemotherapy treatment and a difficult road ahead. Your love and financial support helped Mark and Alison through illness and recovery last time - that support is needed now. More updates to follow.

---------------------------

Our beloved friend Mark Gabriel has just been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. The details of his life-threatening illness are not yet clear as they are still performing tests.

On December 30, he began immediate chemotherapy treatment at Vancouver General Hospital. This round of treatment is expected to last for about a month, where he needs to be isolated in hospital to protect his completely weakened immune system.

Over the next few weeks he must endure this difficult process alone, without the presence of his loving partner Alison or his children. After chemotherapy, he will be released to recover at home. It is expected that his recovery will be lengthy.

There is a possibility of a life-saving bone marrow donor from a family member. Unfortunately, he lives in the US, and there are barriers and legal issues that could be very costly to overcome.

Mark and Alison have given generously and tirelessly to the community: as event organizers, as DJ / sound techs, as party hosts, as friends to many, and as superstar cooks and bakers.

Let's come together to offer our love and support to Mark as he faces this illness, and to his family as they provide him with the strength he needs to recover. He is in urgent need of our support as he faces this devastating illness.

We don't know how long this illness may last. We are all hoping and praying for a speedy and complete recovery. The hope for treatment of this illness is to get it in remission and then keep it in remission. Our goal is that your generous donations will cover their living expenses so that Mark and his family can focus on healing and cover any potential costs required for the donor (more updates on this and any other potential costs will be shared as we learn more).

It is their wish that any extra funds will be donated to leukemia research.
