**** UPDATE **** Marcos returned home from surgery on his left lung on July 3rd. He was progressing well, however on the morning of July 7th he woke up having difficulty breathing and coughing up blood. He visited the ER at UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center, where they have admitted him into the ICU. He now has Valley Fever Pneumonia in BOTH lungs. They are continuing to monitor his progress. Any donations you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for the continued support and prayers. **** I am a professional firefighter and I am reaching out asking for help. I was hospitalized in Phoenix, Arizona this past January due to severe shortness of breath. The Doctor said I had a partially collapsed left lung due to nerve damage I had sustained from a fungal pneumonia infection. I am still recovering but I haven’t been able to return to work as a firefighter because of the the loss of function of my lung. I have been a Firefighter for 8 years with City of Santa Fe Fire Department and have loved every second of serving the community and working along side my fellow firefighters. Through the help and support of my co-workers and friends at the Santa Fe Fire Department, I made contact with a surgeon in New Jersey who specializes in the nerve graft surgery that will allow my collapsed lung to function properly again. This surgery is the only option that would allow me to return to serving my community and the job that I've dedicated my life to. Unfortunately, this procedure and the costs associated with it are not covered by my insurance; therefore, I will have to cover the costs entirely out-of-pocket. The surgery, which will require me to travel and stay in New Jersey for 12 days, is scheduled on June 26th 2020. I will travel there with my mom, dad and my fiancé Janelle. My expected recovery will take up to two (2) years for my lung function to be 100% but I remain positive that I will recover sooner. We are asking for help in reaching our goal to help cover travel, lodging, and medical expenses for the surgery and during my 2-year recovery. With the help of many gracious donors, we will be holding a raffle that will include a cash prize and many other great items that will be given away. Each $100 donation is one entry into the raffle and we will contact you to send you an entry into the live drawing on June 19th. There will also be some bigger prize items that can be bid on in an auction June 5-7th. More information on the auction and some of the items can be found here: https://www.kaylabreianne.com/auction
thank you to everyone who has reached out to me I am grateful for your help.
