Lawrence is fighting for his life since being diagnosed with metastatic cancer of the kidney a month ago. Currently he is in hospital struggling to live and worrying about medical expenses and a memorial service.
Lawrence was a dedicated teacher for over forty years. Nothing gives him great joy and satisfaction when he has made a small difference in encouraging and developing young minds to succeed and be confident in their abilities. What makes his day is to see past students calling out "Sir" and hearing their progress in life. In fact his last day at school was when an emergency ambulance had to be called in because he was bleeding and feeling faint. His fond memories of teaching has not diminished despite his circumstances. He doesn't have any hobbies as teaching was his life.
