Jenna and Anna -

Throughout our lives, we strive to make new friends and treasure our old ones, but it's been my experience that friendships formed in our early years tend to have the strongest bonds. We all have these special friends and even share some of them.

Jenna Lusky Cummings is one of those friends who, after 45 plus years, still remains a cherished, true friend. No matter how many miles or how many years may separate us, Jenna remains a lifelong friend since kindergarten. I have always loved and respected her as if she were my own family and now, more than ever, my friend - our friend -  needs our help.

Please, read on...

Jenna wanted nothing more than to be a mom.  After years of miscarriages and infertility, she was gifted with her precious daughter, Anna, who is now 16.  She would do anything for her girl.  When Anna's struggles with a life-threatening eating disorder and depression finally came to light, Jenna began seeking treatment for her daughter.  And at the end of 2016, when the struggle became too hard to manage AND work, Jenna left her job, her income and her security to become a full-time caregiver.  Soon after, her husband, Anna's step father, became ill, and Anna's father lost his job.  It didn't take long to use up every bit of savings and retirement Jenna had.

While Jenna continues to look for a reliable source of income, taking care of her precious daughter remains a full-time job.  Eating disorder recovery is a long and tiring fight, accompanied by depression, anxiety, weekly trips to specialists, attending a special program, back steps into frightening trips to the ER, stays at the hospital, and very little time to do anything other than fight the disease that keeps attacking her daughter.

Jenna is out of energy but must continue the fight.  She is desperately seeking any benefits she may be eligible for and a job that will allow her to earn a predictable income no matter what time of day or from what location she is able to work.

But more urgently, she needs to keep a roof over her family's heads, food on the table, gas in the car that is in need of new tires and maintenance (she drives an hour and a half to Anna's school, to another town for her eating recovery center, to doctors' and therapists' appointments and everywhere in between to make sure her daughter has the best chance to beat this and have a healthy, full and meaningful life).

Having depleted all resources, Jenna is now also facing the reality that her family may lose their home.  She doesn't have money left to pay next month's rent, Anna's medication, or any of their bills.

Her daughter continues to fight hard to get better.  She just got out of the hospital after a setback, but is so determined to get well. And that's all Jenna wants: to be able to go back to work because she knows she can safely leave her daughter unattended long enough to earn an income.  She wants her daughter to be well and be able to enjoy life as a teenager.

Your donation will help Jenna and her family find some stability and peace of mind as they fight this battle. It will help their journey feel a little less bumpy. Please share!
