Hello Everyone!! My name is Claire and I am raising funds for continued hay donation, delivery, and emergency mobilization to our equestrian community in WNC! I am a local FEI Dressage professional and I am putting my construction and machinery skills to work! I have put together a team of grading experts, myself included, to get us into the most remote and highly affected areas of Chimney Rock, Bat Cave, Burnsville, and Spruce Pine. While many hay and feed donations have been made to the local agricultural centers, most residents have no way to leave their farms as they have been completely destroyed by Hurricane Helene. With the help of volunteers, I have been able to drive smaller loads of hay as close as possible to each farm. Then, we transfer hay bales directly to 4-wheelers and/or side-by-sides to reach the horses in need.
It has been quite the process with flat tires, driving machines across full river crossings, a blown diesel turbo, and countless gallons of fuel. In some cases, we have even had to build temporary roads around mudslides and washouts to get mobility into each location. Emergency equestrian deliveries are not for the faint of heart!
That being said, there is nothing we would rather be doing in this time of need. We have delivered over 400 bales of horse-quality hay to some of the most severely affected communities and we will keep going until every farm is stocked appropriately! Please help donate as 80% of a horse's diet is based on forage consumption, especially since most of their available pasture resources have been washed away or are covered in layers of mud, rock, and silt.
Our grading team is also working tirelessly to improve inaccessible drives to ensure horse emergency safety. It is absolutely essential to get ambulatory veterinary care directly into each location.
Your continued donations will go directly towards getting every farm what they need!! Hay, Grain, Veterinary Access, and making sure they have a way in and out of their homes. No matter what it takes, even if we have to build a way in, we will get to you! Please help keep us mobile to the WNC Equestrian Community!!!
