<div>Hi, my name is <strong>Jeehye</strong>, and I am the wife of <strong>Gasper</strong>, a 35-year-old man who was diagnosed with colon cancer with liver metastasis in April 2025. I am sharing our story to ask for your support during the most difficult time of our lives.

<div><strong>Where Our Story Began</strong>
</div>
<div>He is Slovenian, and I am South Korean. We met in Slovenia while I was traveling in Europe. Over six years, we built our relationship long-distance until he moved to the U.S., and we married in Boston. He left his established career in Europe to start a new one in the U.S. private helicopter sector as a pilot. It wasn’t an easy transition, but we were grateful to finally be together and build our life side by side.

<div><strong>How We Discovered His Cancer</strong>
</div>
<div>A few years ago, Gasper had surgery for hemorrhoids, and his surgeon recommended that he get a colonoscopy in the future. When he finally had his first colonoscopy last year, we received bad news—tumors were found in his colon, and scans later revealed multiple tumors in his liver.
</div>
<div><strong>His Medical Condition and Its Impact</strong>
</div>
<div>Gasper has a primary tumor in the sigmoid colon, located in the lower left abdomen and pelvis, as well as multiple tumors in his liver. He is emotionally stable, but this condition requires us to rapidly adjust our work, time, finances, and the way we see life and what matters most.

<div><strong>Treatment So Far</strong>
</div>
<div>Between April and June, his condition worsened. His cancer progressed, he developed persistent fevers, and his liver function declined. In June, he began chemotherapy.
</div>
<div>After 12 cycles, we were grateful to see the tumors shrink significantly. Chemotherapy helped stabilize his condition and gave us hope—but it is not enough on its own.
</div>
<div><strong>Why Surgery Is Critical</strong>
</div>
<div>With chemotherapy alone, a complete response is unlikely. After extensive research, we traveled to Korea and consulted with specialists at two highly reputable hospitals. Both colon and liver surgeons confirmed that Gasper is a candidate for a two-stage hepatectomy, along with colon surgery.
</div>
<div>These surgeries offer the best chance to remove the tumors and reduce the risk of recurrence—but they come with significant medical and living expenses that are not fully covered.
</div>
<div><strong>The Challenges We Face</strong>
</div>
<div>Over the past year, our lives have completely changed. Gasper had to step away from his career to focus on treatment and recovery. I became both the primary caregiver and the sole breadwinner.
</div>
<div>His treatments took place in Slovenia, while our home and my work are in Boston, which required frequent travel between Europe and the U.S. We also made major lifestyle changes—strict nutrition, daily walks, and long rest hours—to support his healing.
</div>
<div>Balancing caregiving, work, finances, and emotional stress has been overwhelming, but we continue to move forward with hope.
</div>
<div><strong>Our Hope for the Future</strong>
</div>
<div>After surgery and an estimated 2–3 months of recovery, I hope he can return to work—whether that means going back to the helicopter pilot career he loved or a new path that brings him joy. Most of all, we hope for a healthy, cancer-free future together.
