<div>On Friday, July 18, 2025, after returning home from a family vacation, six-year-old Evelyn was rushed to the hospital when her family noticed she wasn’t quite herself. What started as a joyful, relaxing week together quickly turned into a nightmare no parent ever expects.

<div>Evelyn—a bright, funny, and loving little girl—suddenly became lethargic and unresponsive. After initial assessments at their local hospital, she was urgently transferred to SickKids in Toronto, where she remains in critical care.

<div>A Difficult Diagnosis: Encephalitis

<div>Doctors have since diagnosed Evelyn with encephalitis, a rare and serious condition that causes inflammation of the brain, often triggered by a viral infection. This condition can progress rapidly and is life-threatening, requiring intensive medical care and close monitoring.

<div>As of now, Evelyn has been intubated and is receiving round-the-clock care from a dedicated team of specialists. Her condition is serious, and her parents have been told this will be a long and uncertain road ahead.

<div>Her parents are currently applying to stay at Ronald McDonald House in Toronto to remain close to Evelyn during this prolonged hospital stay. With both parents stepping away from work to be at her bedside, the family is facing mounting financial strain—from travel and parking to food, accommodations, and basic living expenses.
