Help Support Drayx's Elbow Infection Surgery
Donation protected
Over the last three years, I've been struggling with recovery from an accident that robbed me of proper use of my arm and chronic pain, numbness, and chronic pain due to a non-union fracture in my upper humerus bone. This not only impacted my ability to both work to make ends meet but also do what I love - Art and video editing. The arm slowly healed but the non-union fracture remained, and while I slowly adjusted and began to draw again as well as work as a night auditor at a hotel, my doctor recommended a third surgery to try to finally repair the non-union fracture. The surgery was rough, and with the sudden lapse of Medicaid, I was also financially devastated - but I was healing quickly and returned to work and all was well - or so I thought. Not 2 months after the surgery, an infection formed in my elbow that would require not only a 4th surgery for debridement but also 6 weeks of daily IV antibiotics. The former sucks but payment plans exist. The latter, however, was nigh impossible. I would have to spend potentially $1400 for 84 Uber rides to my daily infusions. In my condition, especially post-op, I would be in no condition to ride a bus or walk. I discussed it with my roommate and we would try to figure something out.
That was until we were both let go from the hotel we worked at. Regardless of the fact that both of our terminations were stupid, the fact of the matter was the surgery went from near impossible to impossible. Alyssa found work quickly but it would be hard to find an employer with my arm worsening by the day. I had fortunately found one but my arm's condition rapidly deteriorated. I have a fever and am doing what I can to keep my wound clear, praying to God it doesn't worsen by the 3rd. Praying they can finally let me out of this hell, arm intact.
I did not want to come here again after all the help I got from the accident and when I was thrown out but I don't have a choice. My arm and my life are in danger. My roommates are doing what they can but they can only do so much. My roommate can realistically only afford rent, food, and utilities, and though I tried to return to work until the surgery, my arm just became worse. I don't know what to do. So please, even if you can't help, please share this.
Funds for the GoFundMe will go towards GoFundMe fees, transportation to and from Surgery and the daily IV appointments and additional coverages for bandages, medicine and other expenses post surgery. Any donations from ko-fi or PayPal will be added to the campaign manually.
Thank you to everyone who has been there for me now and ever in the past.
