Paul has battled Parkinson’s disease, a progressive disorder of the nervous system that affects movement, for several years. Gradually getting progressively worse, he decided to toss his standard medications and begin a complex alternative program (a program designed by Marty Hinz, M.D.) known to actually halt disease progression. Having done so, he has had to descend into the pits of Parkinson’s hell for many weeks before improving. He had no idea how indescribably horrible it would be to be trapped in a motionless body, never finding a comfortable position, ignoring a thousand daily itches, and feeling every shirt or bed wrinkle and knotted muscle.
For the last three years, with his advancing disease, Dr. Wentland has limited his practice to doing house calls and seeing patients in assisted living facilities. His income has been modest. In an effort to feel his best in order to continue to serve his patients, he has chosen to take a proven, non-traditional approach to treatment. Unfortunately, insurance companies do not recognize non-traditional approaches, and his expensive treatment is not covered by insurance. Paul has had to stop his practice (the beginning of October) to go through this treatment for his Parkinson’s. Patients on this alternative treatment program are often not able to be optimized and return to work for as long as six months. He has had to hire nursing staff to help care for him.
Paul Wentland is a generous human being who has touched the lives of so many people in the communities he has served. In all of his years of being a physician and providing care to his patient’s, not once did he ever think he would be on the receiving end of needing help and support physically, emotionally, and financially.
Being out of work for many weeks and having to pay out of pocket, and accruing medical expenses has added to the stressors that Paul was already facing.
Paul is very humble. It was hard for him to let down his guard and allow me to start this go fund me page for him.
I am asking for everyone’s help to get the word out so that we can help Paul with the financial burden he is facing and alleviate this stress so he can focus on his treatment and getting healthier.
He is anxious to begin practicing again, and hopefully this treatment will put Parkinson’s behind him so that he can move forward with the life he wants to live and provide the best possible care to his patients and the communities in which he serves.
