Thanks for stopping to read. I had the difficult phone call two weeks ago: one of my moms has a cancer diagnosis. We read every day of families struggling with this journey, but it hits so hard when it's your own family.

My mother, Leslie Hughes, has been with Deborah Roper for more than 20 years. Theirs has been a bit of a rocky road, but never has any trial shaken their faith in God or their love for each and their kids and grandkids. They've remained steadfast and been constantly supportive of their family.

They've worked hard and kept a home, and took in grandkids, and each of us kids over the years. Now they're faced with their most difficult challenge yet: getting Debbie well.

Mom still works full time, but Debbie's been unable to work for several weeks now. The bills are backing up, and with appointments, tests, surgery and recovery ahead, it will only get tougher to keep up, as mom will need to be present to care for Debbie. There is also the additional costs of travel to the Cancer Center, 1 1/2 hours away.

I'm asking anyone who can to please contribute to help them through this difficult time, and show them how much they are loved and appreciated.
