<div>I am reaching out during an impossible and heartbreaking time for our family, specifically for my husband, Davor Vulama.
</div>

<div>On the night of July 23rd, 2024, Davor had a seizure while we (Davor, or son Leo, and I) were vacationing in Birch Bay. He was rushed to a hospital in Bellingham where he had more seizures, a CT scan, and a MRI.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The scans revealed that Davor had a brain tumour that was the size of a navel orange that we were unaware of. This was especially shocking because Davor is a very healthy 45 year old man, even running on the beach walk the day before.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Once the tumour was discovered, he was rushed to VGH during the night for emergency surgery to remove the tumour early in the morning.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, and more acutely dangerous than the brain cancer, during the time while Davor was having the seizures, pressure built up in his brain and three areas of his brain lost blood supply. One of these areas impacts his ability to wake up.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Over the past six weeks Davor has been fighting to regain consciousness. He has made some limited progress. We remain hopeful everyday. Although he is not there yet, he has been making improvements little by little each day.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am starting this fundraiser because people close to Davor have asked for a place to contribute to a successful recovery and a place to receive updates. Also because, I realize now that, our best case scenario is that we, as a family, have a long road ahead.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As many of you know, Davor is self-employed as a songwriter, music producer, and composer. This means that he does not qualify for EI, and, with the speed at which he is healing, we do not know when he will be able to work again.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our first hurdle is to help support Davor as he fights to regain consciousness and control of his body. We are holding onto hope that he will be able to build new pathways and connections in his brain to bypass the damaged areas so that this can happen.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our second hurdle is to seek treatment for Davor’s brain cancer to give him the best possible opportunity at a long life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>During this fight, Davor is in need of constant support.
</div>

</div>
