Help support Dak & Bop

Past, Present, & Future Dak & Bop Family and Friends,

The opening of Dak & Bop 18th Street has been one filled with many difficulties, obstacles, and challenges that we as a team have continued to meet head on, overcome, and move on from. From replacing the City of Houston’s power component due to a freak electrical explosion, to our mechanical infrastructure inside of our building needing to be completely redone, to COVID beginning after 7 weeks from being open, the list can be quite unbelievable what we as a team have overcome from the day we opened. It was a heartbreaking decision to close the original location when we did. However, the pandemic and what followed was something we knew we could not handle while simultaneously opening a new location in the midst of all the chaos.

With that said, we were hit with some terrible news about our space that has our backs against the walls yet again. With all the rain and storms that have come through our area, and with the building being an old Pizza Hut from back in the day, we were told that there is major water damage in our ceilings inside and outside that will force us to shut down our dining room for construction for at least a week, if not longer. This is devasting not only to our business but to our hardworking staff as well. Losing even a day of regular business is detrimental to us, but we are equally concerned for our loyal team members that count on the shifts that they’re scheduled for to survive. Although we will attempt to operate a carryout and to-go format, we as a team have concerns that it will not be nearly enough to go on. This does not take into account the enormously rising food cost and overall costs of operations that have come along with the pandemic.

If any of our loyal fans and customers are able, we would graciously accept any amount of donation to help our team so we can remain open after the construction is complete. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover any of this and it will all be at the expense of the business. Equally important to us, we would like to raise enough so we can keep all of our committed staff members on payroll. We do not want them to miss a beat while the construction is happening. We feel we have started something very special with our space on 18th Street, and we would love to continue this journey. In our hearts, we know this is not the end but rather it is another chapter to our story. We would like to thank all of our customers, past and present, and we hope to be able to serve you after all is said and done.
