Help Support Christina Inglin's Medical Expenses

Donation protected
On August 10th, Christina (Chris) Inglin went to her cardiologist for a routine checkup but, upon seeing her doctor, she was unexpectedly rushed to the hospital that same day. After staying at the hospital for 4 days undergoing various scans and assessments to diagnose the condition of her heart, Chris ultimately underwent heart bypass surgery on the morning of August 14th.

Following the surgery, Chris wasn’t waking up in the timeframe expected and had an alarmingly low heart rate. The doctors performed a catheterization to find that the initial procedure had failed and caused a blockage. For the second time in less than 24 hours, Chris had to undergo emergency surgery after discovering that the corrective graft attached to her heart had collapsed. Although, the second emergency surgery was successful in the sense of correcting the collapsed graft, it unfortunately introduced some other complications. Chris suffered sepsis–a rare occurrence following heart bypass surgery. With Chris’s body working overtime to fight the sepsis and recover from double heart surgery, her kidneys had to be put on dialysis. Also, due to a loss of oxygen to her heart for a prolonged period of time as a result of the collapsed graft, Chris was put on a heart pump, an oxygenator, and a respirator.

Over the span of a week and a half, doctors tried to wean Chris off the sedation, though every time the dose was lowered it seemed to cause a new issue and Chris’s condition worsened.

On Friday, August 25th, with her body already trying to recover from heart bypass surgery and the complications that followed, Chris unfortunately suffered a brain aneurysm. After a panel of MRI & CAT-scans were conducted to assess the potential damage, doctors concluded that even if Chris is able to be taken off of various life-support measures, she will likely have lost ability to comprehend and communicate, she will likely be paralyzed on the right side of her body, and she will likely have partial or full loss of vision.

Currently, Chris is still receiving life-saving care with many variables unknown at this time.

Beyond the life-altering emotional impact on the Inglin family, the financial impact has been–and will continue to be–significant due to Chris’s prolonged hospital stay (nearing 4 weeks and, unfortunately, counting) and the major disabilities Chris will have as a result of her brain aneurysm.

For those who know Chris and the Inglin family, know that Chris is never far from her beloved son, Trevor Inglin. For over thirty years, Chris has been the primary caregiver for Trevor, who requires and is dependent on 24/7 care and will be for the rest of his life. Thus far, Chris’s daughter, Susanna (Suzie), and husband, David (Dave), have altered their lives and work schedules to make sure that Trevor has the care and supervision he requires. With the help of friends and family during these trying times, the Inglin family has been able to temporarily cover Chris’s absence in Trevor’s life, as well as their own. However, doing so has inevitably taken an additional financial toll on the family.

The Inglin’s are a family that always–without a second thought–extend a helping hand to friends, family, and community members in need. With the weight of the world on their shoulders, Suzie and Dave Inglin should, at the very least, be able to put their full focus and time into caring for Chris while she fights for her life, as well as Trevor. Now is not a time for them to be burdened and distracted by the financial impact this tragedy has, and will continue to have, on their lives. This GoFundMe is to help the Inglin family with any out-of-pocket medical costs for Chris, as well as the financial expenses required to guarantee Trevor’s necessary care.

On behalf of the Inglin family, thank you for the love and support during this extremely difficult time.
