In March of this year, Chlo and her family were shocked to find that she had been diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma, after feeling unwell and fatigued for quite sometime.
Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a rare cancer that affects the lymphatic system, which helps protect the body against infection and disease. Around 600 people are diagnosed with HL in Australia every year. While it can affect people of any age, it is most common in young adults.
While it is considered one of the more treatable cancers, the journey for Chloe through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery has been incredibly tough—physically, emotionally, and financially. These impacts have meant Chlo has been unable to work or support herself during these times, which has resulted in her having to lean on family and friends. With each chemotherapy cycle, the symptoms have more of an impact on her physical and mental health, making it difficult for her to complete daily/social activities.
The money raised in this fundraiser will help to support Chlo as she goes through chemotherapy, and to help her get back on her feet when she has finished treatment. It will also help to pay for any hidden medical costs that aren't covered under Medicare and the PBS. Most importantly, it will help Chlo to continue to do things she loves while she goes through this hard time, to keep herself happy, positive and motivated. Every donation will help ease the burden and provide vital support for her.
