Celia Hernández Jiménez and her sisters Ana and Marcelina have been serving at the Hridaya Yoga Center since its founding. Exemplars of the Hridaya Attitudes of humbleness, perseverance, and pure intention, they are a beloved and vital part of our community. They are excellent cooks, fastidious cleaners, and joyful beings—if you’ve spent time with us, you’ve likely come to know and love them.
Right now, Celia, Ana, and Marcelina need our help.
Celia and her family have continuously faced economic hardship. Recently, their financial situation has worsened, resulting in a seemingly insurmountable amount of debt. The family’s financial difficulties are primarily the result of treatment for Celia’s deaf grandson, Johan. His condition has required costly surgeries, rehabilitation sessions, a variety of therapies, repairs to his implants, and other expensive procedures. Other factors contributing to the debt include insurance-related fees, health complications, transportation issues, loss of employment, and difficulties within the family structure.
With the income that Celia and her sisters earn working at our center, they take care of their entire extended family, financially supporting 9 children and 7 grandchildren.
Their current debt is approximately 329,000 pesos (roughly 17,240 USD).
