Help support baby Koa & her family

Please help support baby Koa & her family to help ease some of the financial burden so they have one less thing to worry about as they face the challenging months ahead.

This is Koa’s story

In a matter of seconds, your entire world can change. Your hopes and dreams for your newborn baby shattered with the words “infant terminal illness”.

The last trimester of Aleisha’s pregnancy was spent with multiple scans and in and out of hospital rooms, with some warnings due to growth percentiles that baby would be flagged for extra scans and assessments when born.

When their little baby girl Koa Eve was born her mum and dad were elated to see she looked so perfect. They felt relief that she was perfect bundle of joy. A light at the end of dark and worrisome pregnancy.

This moment was short lived. A hospital stay for baby at 10 days old started it all due to respiratory issues. At two weeks old the scans started after multiple Ultrasounds and then an MRI the worst was confirmed.

In a few seconds Koa’s parents world came crashing down.

A parents worst nightmare, devastatingly at only 5 weeks old Koa was diagnosed with a neurological brain disorder, but of the worst kind. Lissencephaly, which means smooth brain, a rare disorder that affects 1 in a 100,000 babies and there is no cure.

Koa’s life sadly will be very short.
Her life expectancy is anywhere between 1-10 years old.
Her parents Ben and Aleisha have been told she will never walk, will never talk, she may not see, she may not smile, she may not laugh, she will need a feeding tube and worst of all she will experience daily seizures.
She will never grow developmentally beyond a 4-6 month old. But she will hear, taste and feel. She will feel the love her family have for her every day of her short but precious life.

Koa is a gorgeous little baby girl and her name means “Warrior” and she is and always will be a fighter.

Her parents Ben and Aleisha and her older sister Ava will have many challenges ahead. Physically and emotionally.

No parent should have to go through this pain.

Aleisha is trying desperately to recover from her caesarean and fighting her second infection. On top of this, she is also trying cope with the sudden illness of her father which happened in the last few days.

Today the beautiful Koa is only 6 weeks old and any bit of help will come greatly appreciated by her family as they do their best to give Koa the best possible life they can.

Money raised will help the family through the tough months ahead as they adapt their lives to support a child with a severe physical and mental disability.
