Hi, my name is Ashley and I am fundraising for Abbey Nolan and her family as they fight against B12 deficiency, pernicious anemia with subacute combined degeneration.

This family has been on quite a journey and still many mountains to climb. Abbey is just 31 years old and her ability to walk and live a normal life has changed.

June of 2021, Abbey had a B12 of 152 and the hospital gave her one dose of B12 and seen a neurologist that suspected pernicious anemia and subacute combined degeneration however sent her home. Fast forward to June of 2023, Abbeys ability to walk decreased and she had to use a cane or walker to get around. On September 17, 2023, Abbey was hospitalized because she could no longer ambulate. They sent her to a nursing home on October 12, 2023. Her friend accompanied her to the nursing home refusing to let her stay, due to the environment. She was then sent to a hospital in Tampa where we were able to start getting proper care. After a week, a doctor and neurologist started her back on B12 daily as well as co-factors. She had lost ability to urinate and was cathed. As of October 21, 2023 she was finally able to urinate without cath. She was then transferred to an impatient rehab for two weeks to help get her on her feet and learn to live in a wheelchair. Praying she will ambulate someday. Finally finding some doctors to understand this horrible disease and treat it properly. She was discharged from rehab on October 28, 2023 and learning to live at home with her family’s support on her own in a wheelchair. While this will be a very long process with lots of physical therapy and appointments the end results are still unknown. She has been unable to work for months now and the bills are piling in. Abbey is one of the most beautiful people you will ever meet and would give the shirt off her back. This has been devastating for her and those around her.
