Help Jeana fight glioblastoma
Donation protected
Update on Jeana's situation: On November 18th Jeana had another MRI at Arkansas Children's to see if the radiation treatments had done anything to help. Unfortunately, the results were not what we were hoping to see and we had to come to terms with bad news. The cancer has spread quite a bit and her blood cells are in crisis mode. She is no longer receiving treatments at this point. She is currently on with Hospice of Texarkana, (such an incredible care team) and they will be taking care of her at home. Our goal now is to make her as comfortable as possible for the time she has left and we would like to make this the best Christmas for her that we can.
Here's the updated picture of the new scan below.
Jeana is still on her Keppra for seizures, a steroid to help reduce swelling/fluid build-up, and an antibiotic. We are going forward with CBD oils and thankfully have good management over any pains. I want to thank everybody for all your support, encouragement, love, we are overwhelmed and so thankful for all the love we've been receiving for our Jeana and us. The donations have been so helpful and have eased our financial situation and need tremendously as well. Thank you again for helping us through this difficult time together.
Jeana Marie Wells is 15 years old and goes to Ashdown Jr high with a birthday coming up, August the 28th. Her family noticed she was having headaches a little before summer break, and they continued getting worse. Unfortunately, they couldn't get her to her PCP because it was difficult finding one in our area that accepted her insurance, Empower health. On June the 26th she fell out onto the bathroom floor and it looked like she was experiencing seizure like symptoms. In a terrifying moment, they did what any parent would do and called an ambulance that took her to St Michaels in Texarkana. However, she was dismissed shortly from there despite not having a CT scan done. They felt like her situation wasn't being taken seriously, but those symptoms did seem to pass except for the headaches that continued. They then were able to find a primary care physician that took her insurance. Before they could get into to see her doctor so they could be referred to a neurologist, a similar accident happens again on the night of June 2nd. They quickly rushed her by car to Little River memorial hospital and thankfully they preformed a scan right away and caught this mass. Immediately, they had her flown over to Children's in Little Rock and that's where they are currently. The mass isn't looking too good, but through prayer they are trying to stay confident in the surgery today despite it being high risk and scary. There is an area in the middle part of Jeanas brain that cannot be operated on but, they will be removing as much as possible. I will keep everyone updated as I hear.
