Help Superman save Lois!

Hello Everyone,

This is a go fund for my wife Colleen and myself. We are raising money for moving expenses for me to relocate and move in with my wife. She and I have been in a long-distance relationship since 2012, we got married in 2020 and have been trying to move in together since the pandemic.

We first met in Metropolis, IL to what I would call fate more than chance. She had been to Metropolis in 2011 at the Superman Celebration with her parents. Her father had noticed me from afar jumping off a park bench for a picture near the Superman Statue. The following year both her and her mother attended the celebration and recognized me in a hotel parking lot. Apparently Colleen was already looking and wasn’t going to miss me. So she yelled at the top of her lungs “Hey Mom, There’s that guy from last year!" I hesitated for a second as I was running late to go meet Gerard Christopher dressed as his version of Superboy, but the first thing I found when I turned around was a redhead and her mom wearing sunglasses and holding cameras, with a synchronized tourist wave. I walked up introduced myself took a picture and I didn’t know but I fell in love immediately. That celebration I swept the costume contest as Evil Superman from Superman 3. Colleen and her mom were one of the first to find me after my big win. It had been one of the happiest celebrations of my life. Before I left, I was congratulated by people from Plano, ILL which was Smallville for the Man of Steel film. Later that summer, I asked Colleen if she wanted to spend a weekend with me at their festival as Lana Lang because her family lived nearby. She said yes. We got engaged a year later at the Smallville Superfest in the exact same spot we fell in love during our first date.

On May 23rd, 2020, I got a call from Colleen who had just gotten off the phone with her brother and mother who were at the hospital visiting her father, Gary. He was dying from an infection and also had covid. She was telling me that he doesn’t have much longer to live, and this was my chance to say goodbye. My heart immediately sank and I was speechless for a few seconds felt numb. My first instinct was to remind her of our engagement; when I asked for her father’s blessing. Her father and I had a very passionate and heartfelt conversation; I made a promise to him that he would be able to give away his daughter no matter what and that I would look after her. He wanted to see his daughter married. The only thing that I could think of was to marry her then and there. I asked Colleen’s permission and we setup a video call wedding between a small group with 5 phones. Within minutes our friend Scott and his family helped marry us. What a blessing that the man who made my first Superman Costume and made my supersuits was also a minster and helped perform a miracle. My Father-In-Law Gary passed away two days later: on Memorial Day. He was a man of faith and country, but he was my Father-In-Law for a lot longer than I realized.

Following and prior to our emergency marriage, we have had our share of losses through family and friends. Colleens Aunt and Uncle had died not knowing each other had passed as they both had fallen into a coma. Her family is struggling to get back heirlooms, sentimental items, and pictures from the state as they were notified after this unfortunate event. In 2019, when her father first got sick, I lost a father figure Jeff Callahan, the producer of Superman: World War; and my acting mentor, Christopher Dennis, the Hollywood Superman. Losing Jeff and Chris was very hard to deal with as they were key roles to my beginning success. On June 30, 2020, my stepfather had also passed from cancer. He had survived twice before, but kept to himself the last time as he wanted to stay with my mother as long as he could. It was their 20th wedding anniversary. Through the pandemic we lost several more family members and family like friends from cosplaying and charity groups that we love dearly. Between both of us we lost count in the teens and our grief is still weighing heavy.

I want to thank you for taking the time to read this. Through the pandemic it was hard to see each other but we made it work. However, we occurred lots of debt. I have been trying to move since Colleen’s father passed and I worry about her daily because of her health. She has fibromyalgia, sciatica, slipped discs and asthma. I must be with my wife and we could really use your help. I need help with some of the expenses that will or have already occurred.

I have not been able to work for the past couple of months due to a stressful personal issue and living situation. My ADHD and anxiety are tenfold now under all this trauma. With help from friends and family I am still able to move in time, but I need help financially as I am running out of options to make income. Right now, I am selling costume items, collectibles, and misc. items to help with the big move. To move we need at least $2500.00 to cover travel, trailer, and expenses. This includes my car that sat for months in long term repairs, but just got it fixed and it needs registration. We plan to save up money to move into a bigger home together hopefully this year and any additional money received by you will go to that cost and storage for our future.

Leaving St. Louis is so difficult because this was my home. Please understand, now SHE is my home. We have yet to be together for Valentine’s Day since marriage and I am tired of missing her. We need a home together. I still have to throw this woman the wedding of her dreams someday and give her a life she could be proud of. It is time that I kept my promise. This city will always be my hometown and I will always be a midwestern boy at heart. My time with you as the St. Louis Superman has been life changing. I will cherish every moment that the city and all of you have shown me with it’s true spirit over the past 12 years. To every person who has helped me along the way, thank you.

I am not hanging up my cape from now on I will be sharing it. Just remember, I'm always around.

Dream Big, Stand up, & Fly High.
Love,
Charlee
