Help Sunni: Support for Asthma Care

Hello guys I’m chelsea I’m pet owner of Sunni.
Sunni is one fluffy kitty and he loves to cuddle so much. I never seen such an affectionate cat like him. He’s one big part of the family, he’s our best friend! If he’s not cuddling with me or my daughter you will see him just laying on his back sprouted out lol. he follows me all around the house even when I am showering he is there! His personality is so cute and he’s the sweetest boy ever and wish everyone can meet him! Everytime we go for check ups at the vet or bring him to the pet stores so many people fall in love him. He loves car rides and just being adventurous and living his best life. His favorite toy ever is the “ cat spring” you give him one of those he will carry it all around the house.

unfortunately health issues has risen and I had no idea about pet insurance until now and it’s to late for this diagnosis being it will be considered “ pre condition “ . We went to the Emergency vet this past week ( twice ) due to Sunni coughing and hacking but no signs of hair balls anywhere. we kept getting the “ he is fine “ statement even when they did multiple x-rays. they just gave us an esophagus medication to coat his esophagus and stomach for irritation but it didn’t help at all after third day, then last night (10/25/2024) he had trouble breathing and starting hacking badly. We rushed Sunni back to the emergency room and they had to immediately give him a dexamethasone shot as well as putting him in an oxygen tank. Fast forward the results came in and sunni has feline asthma. So basically the first doctor that was on call the first time we went to er mis diagnosed sunny and basically ate my money for nothing.. Sunni is now stable and is currently on a steroid oral medication called prednisoLONE for two weeks. We hope he will do well on it. Fingers crossed. Then we have to follow up with our veterinarian to get his maintenance medicine & inhalers. Keep in mind this will be for all his life moving forward.

I was told by the ER the second time Sunni will need forever care and meds.
when I called my veterinarian they also did inform me when I go for Sunni appointment on November 4th 2024 Sunni will need a maintenance inhaler Flovent 125mcg which is a safe low dose inhaler for everyday use ( he will need to start with once in the morning once at night ) if he does well then we can leave it at that for 4ish months and see how he does unless I start to see him coughing more and if I keep reaching for the “ rescue “ emergency inhalers/ meds then we need to up the maintenance inhaler to 250mg, but if all goes well with the first dose of the maintenance inhaler then we leave it alone. I’ll need a “rescue” inhaler which is an emergency inhaler called Albuterol which is only for when he gets a coughing episode because this one is a lot stronger dose to open the airways quicker and can’t be used for everyday due to high health risks. Sunni will also need a prescription for prednisoLONE in 5mg in tablet form to go along with the Albuterol during an attack to open his lungs even quickly.
I understand I can order all these meds/ inhalers through Canada cloud and get the price down much lower then I can here in the US human pharmacy but it’s still costly especially the shipping rate so I have to order double of all these to make the math make sense as well as because shipping takes forever ( 2-3 weeks ) so I’ll need to get 3 so I can have them for when one runs out and usually these meds and inhaler are back ordered so time is a critical. These prescriptions are going to be the most expensive part. Also I’ll need to get a pet AeroKat so I can put the inhalers in to give it to Sunni, which is also in the high price range.

all of this is necessary to get it’s not pick one or the other kind of situation. The rescue inhaler and the prednisoLONE tablets of 5g is for an attack so I do not have to rush him to the ER so getting these the veterinarian said it’s the route to go and majority of clients do this to save money to not go to the ER. The maintenance inhaler Flovent is just for everyday use like I said before.
This all overwhelming and we doing our part as much as we can. When we get a pet i understand things come up and i have to take responsibility and you have to do what you have to but when funds become limited it’s hard to get the care when needed! I did my part so far and paid all the expenses that just happened in the last week.

If anyone has it in their hearts to help donate I’ll appreciate so much and so will Sunni. If we can just reach this goal this will help so much to payback my credit card and half my care credit I used to take him to the ER that will help me tremendously because I’ll pay it off and I’ll be able to get all the meds / inhalers I need to get for him. The vet bills are posted below for update. It equals to little over 1200 but I’m only asking for 1k. Not even all of it. I just want to get him to that follow up apt on the 4th of November and start all the medication plans but I can’t do that being my credit card and care credit is capped out.

also for those that are reading if you can not donate please do not feel pressured, thank you for reading this it sure means a lot and if you can share this I’ll appreciate it so much because that helps just as much.

I want to say Thank you to the ones who can contribute and donate it deeply means a lot to help Sunni better, we greatly appreciate it.

Donations will cover his prior vet visit(s) so I can pay those off on my credit cards so I can get him back into the veterinarian.
