Help Sue the Bully Battle the Bump!
Meet Sue! She is a bold, beautiful bully and my best friend. She is the sweetest, potato chip loving, stick chewing, alien stuffy cuddling, mountain climbing, river wading, car ride copilot, lollygagging little baby hippo of a dog. She has taught me compassion and patience and shown me more genuine love and appreciation, than I knew was possible. This girl and I have been through the ringer since she came to be part of my pack just 2 years ago.
Sue started her life in the concrete jungle of Far Rockaway, Queens, NY but found herself in rough shape fighting cancer when she arrived to her new home with me in the mountains of NorthEast PA. My baby hippo wasn’t ready to give up though; Sue underwent surgery to have a mass removed and then several rounds of chemo, only to come out stronger and happier on the other side. The photo above was shortly after her last chemo treatment, when we got the “cancer free” confirmation. She had transformed from sad city dog to majestic mountain queen.
Susie Boujee, her furry brother, Haku, and I have been adventuring together every day during and since her recovery, until yesterday, 05/01/20. What started out as a normal day took a devastating turn, Sue was suddenly unable to walk and running a fever. I immediately took her to the Emergency Vet, where they discovered a large mass between her spleen and kidneys. The vet advised me that she will need a major, extensive surgery to have the mass removed; a procedure that comes with a heavy price tag estimated at $3500 - $4750 not including after care.
And that is where you come in: my friends, family, acquaintances, followers; Sue and I need your help. She has so much life left in her, we have so many more adventures left together; money can’t be the thing that stops her from continuing this journey with Haku and me.
Unfortunately, if 2020 were a normal year, I would be working and not so stressed financially over this situation with Susie’s health, however due to the Covid-19 crisis, I still find myself laid off, with no return to work date in sight. I cannot say it enough, I LOVE THIS GIRL. She is the queen of our castle, and I am prepared to exhaust my funds to save her, but any amount you can donate, great or small is so deeply appreciated and will insure that she can keep wandering with us for years to come.
