Help Sue Recover From a Theft

Donation protected

Hello, My name is Samantha DeForest. I am fundraising for my Grandmother Sue Husband.

I am hoping to raise some money for her to be able to buy a new car, as hers was too damaged to get repaired when it was stolen and driven erratically.

What happened?

Sue was shopping at No Frills grocery store in the Argyle plaza. She had her purse tied to the cart with the seatbelt strap. A 42 year old man untied it and stole her purse. He threw the purse in an isle and fled with her wallet and her keys, stole her car and drove off. The police were contacted. A member of the LPS Traffic Management Unit saw the man driving the vehicle on sidewalks and over curbs. Police Officers attended the scene and found her car in the 1000-block of Hargrieve Road. The man was located near by and was arrested. The man was charged with:

• Theft under $5000;

• Theft of motor vehicle;

• Dangerous operation of a conveyance; and

• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

While the man was driving her car erratically, it was damaged and deemed a write off.

How this is affecting Sue Husband:

My grandmother has lost her means of travel and freedom. She is a senor and is low income. She needs a vehicle to get to her many medical appointments and to travel to see her family which she loves dearly. She was innocently living her life and minding her own business when this crime happened. I feel so bad that she is without a car and unfortunately can not afford to by a new one.

This crime has really impacted her life. She is left with lots of anxiety and is always looking around in a panic when she is out of her house. I would like to raise money to try and lift her spirits and help her be able to afford to buy a car.

Insurance gave her money for the damaged car but it is not enough to get another one. And the price of used cars has gone up a lot because of the pandemic.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I know my Grandmother would be so blessed to have a vehicle again.

Thank you
