Help students to Neuroscience conference

We are a group of 38 first-year students of the master Neuroscience at the VU Amsterdam. Our study provides us with the opportunity to go to the international Neuroscience conference held in Glasgow from the 11th until the 15th of July 2020 by the FENS. In order to organise this trip for all the students, a few of us formed a board called SCCAN (Student Committee Conferences Amsterdam Neuroscience).
This is a great opportunity for us to create new networks with leading researchers and labs in our field, it will be a great step for our future careers. Think for instance about introductions to new research and techniques, internship positions or even future jobs.
Not every student has enough money to join us on this trip. We would love to cover a part of the costs for our transport to the conference, the conference itself and hostel costs during the conference. The total cost is estimated to be around the €500,- per student.
Through this way we hope to get €100,- funding per student, which is €3800,- in total, so everybody can join us to Glasgow. A big thank you for everyone who donated on behalf of SCCAN and all the other students!
Wij zijn een groep van 38 eerstejaars master Neuroscience studenten aan de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Onze studie geeft ons de mogelijkheid om naar de internationale Neuroscience conferentie te gaan die in Glasgow gehouden wordt door de FENS tussen 11 en 15 juli 2020. Om deze reis te organiseren voor alle studenten, hebben een aantal van ons een bestuur gevormd genaamd SCCAN (Student Committee Conferences Amsterdam Neuroscience).
Dit is een geweldige kans voor ons om nieuwe contacten te leggen en een netwerk te creëren met specialisten en laboratoria in ons vakgebied, zal dit een waardevolle stap voor onze toekomstige carrières worden. Denk hierbij bijvoorbeeld aan nieuwe onderzoeken en technieken, stage mogelijkheden of misschien wel toekomstige banen.
Als studenten hebben we helaas niet allemaal genoeg geld om ons deze reis financieel te veroorloven. Daarom zouden we het liefst een deel van de kosten willen dekken voor transport naar de conferentie, de conferentie zelf en de overnachting in een hostel gedurende de conferentie. We schatten de totale kosten rond de €500,- per student.
Via deze weg hopen we €100,- per student op te kunnen halen, wat een totaal van €3800,- is, zodat iedereen toch mee kan naar Glasgow. We willen graag iedereen bedanken die heeft gedoneerd namens SCCAN en alle andere studenten!
