A week after the passing of his brother Bug to FIP, Strike had begun to act oddly. He was a playful cat but was now lethargic, lost his appetite, and most alarming, his eye had begun to exhibit serious problems. We immediately got him to the veterinarian and experienced our second heartbreak in one month, like his brother, Strike was diagnosed with FIP.
FIP, Feline Infectious Peritonitis, is a rare mutation of the feline coronavirus and it is fatal. Fortunately, there is a medication for this disease called Mutian but we cannot afford it alone.
Strike is no stranger to adversity, malnourished and sick, he was rescued from a neglectful household, and at 2 months old was the victim of a dog attack. We were told by the animal hospital that he could not survive his injury to the stomach and should be put down. After agonizing over what to do, we made the choice to take him home and attempt to nurse him back to health. The following day he was happily zooming around the house. We decided to give him the name, Lucky Strike.
Losing Bug to this disease was devastating and we cannot imagine going through that experience again. Strike is a cat that finds joy in everything and possesses a strong will to live. Please donate so he can have his third strike at life again.
