Help Steve Hear Again

Steve is a homeless 49 year old male spending his nights at the Salvation Army homeless shelter. During the days to keep his spirits up and pass the time, he reads, exercises, and practices yoga in a local park. Steve has a severe hearing loss and struggles to communicate his daily needs.
A brief screen shot of Steve’s life. Steve was forced to leave his home at the age of 16 by his father. He was unable to finish high school, but did manage to get his GED. Steve had a dream of attending college, but his circumstances prevented the opportunity. Steve has worked various minimum wage jobs in the fast food industry and convenience stores.
At the age of 30 Steve’s hearing loss began. He was able to purchase his first set of hearing aids and one replacement set. Eventually these hearing aids failed, and Steve was unable to replace his hearing aids. Around 2008 he was hit by a car, making it difficult to work. Steve was able to recover at his mother’s home until she became ill. Again Steve found himself homeless.
Over the years his hearing continued to decline to the point of not being able to communicate without writing notes back and forth. Being homeless, no phone, no transportation and the inability to hear, life has become a struggle. Despite all this Steve remains positive and attempts to improve his life.
Steve was recently approached in the local park, by Ken, who after hearing his story, took steps to help improve Steve’s life, including assistance finding a hearing doctor, buying a cell phone for text messaging and pocket money for his daily needs. Ken is now asking for your help with purchasing new hearing aids and housing assistance for Steve.
In addition, any opportunity for employment in the Las Vegas area would be welcomed. Steve is ready, willing, and able to work, and has bus transportation.
Thank you in advance, for your consideration in helping Steve to hear again. We appreciate any contribution, as soon as possible, hopefully by January 1, 2021 to assist Steve with his hearing aids and one step closer to becoming an employed citizen in the Las Vegas Community.
