Need Help Paying Rent

Hi. I’m Jenn. I’m asking for help in paying my rent because if I don’t, I’ll be asked to leave on January 31st and it will be nearly impossible for me to find housing.

I left my job in early March of 2020 because I was being abused by someone that I worked with. Even though COVID 19 was becoming an issue, I thought that it would be managed as well as could be and I had some exciting prospects for employment, so I did what was best for me and at the advice of my therapist, I got myself out of that situation. 

Unfortunately, those prospects dried up and we all witnessed the horror that unfolded across the country (and the world) with COVID.

I had several thousand dollars at hand in April. I was comfortable and certain that things would be fine. It all went to paying my rent, car payment, and other bills for the next six months while I went on interview after interview (21 total) with no job offers. The money was gone by late September and I was panicking. 

I haven’t paid rent since October. I owe $5700 and the landlord called me on Wednesday to tell me that I cannot renew my lease (understandable) unless every cent is paid off.  They will not enter into a payment arrangement with me. I’ve also been told it will be nearly impossible for me to get another apartment while I owe money to this one.

I’m still interviewing for jobs and doing gig work where I can, but I’m terrified of losing my apartment and having nowhere to go. I have two elderly dogs who I can’t abandon.

I really need help. Desperately. I’m trying to make enough to pay off what I owe so that I can stay in my home. If you can give, I would be so grateful. If I don’t reach my goal, any money that I receive would be used to find an extended stay hotel that takes dogs. 

Please help if you can. I’m completely terrified.
