Help Establish a Muslim High School in Wales

Alhamdulillah the Blessed month of Dhul Hijjah is here!

The Prophet (SAW) said: “There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah (SWT) than these [first] 10 days [of Dhul Hijjah].” {Bukhari}

The first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah are the best 10 days of the Islamic year. They gift us with the wonderful chance of redeeming ourselves in the eyes of Allah (SWT). For those of us who can’t perform Hajj this year, it is great to know that these 10 days present us with many opportunities to gain immense rewards and blessings.

Cardiff Muslim Primary School warmly invites you to help us purchase an amazing building for our expansion project.

To maximise this reward, at CMPS we have set a 10 day Dhul Hijjah Class Challenge for all our classes in school. Each class will have their own GofundMe link (which is linked to the main CMPS GofundMe campaign). The Challenge is to raise as much money as a class for our Expansion Project. The need is still very much alive, and the community and our children will benefit greatly through a larger Muslim Primary school, Muslim High school as well as a Community Hub.

CMPS, a registered charity, was established in 1999 as a full-time, independent, faith-based primary school catering to boys and girls aged 4 to 11. We are at full capacity with 145 pupils. Located in the heart of Cardiff, we have served the local Muslim community for over 20 years. Our aim is to provide our children with an Islamic environment in which they can realise their full academic potential, while nurturing and developing their faith.

CMPS has outgrown our current premises with a waiting list of 50+ across all years. The demand for a high school is even greater. So we present to you one of the greatest needs of our community, we would go as far as to say one of the greatest needs of this generation; the need to expand the Primary School and also establish a first-of-its-kind, purpose-built Muslim High School in Wales.

The high school will aim to provide an outstanding education in an engaging and resourceful learning environment, one in which each student can excel. Emphasis will be placed on the school's mission of building student character and instilling leadership skills, all within a faith-positive environment. Through this, we aim to produce model citizens who are confident in their Muslim identities, adhere to the best of human values, and aspire to become future leaders.

In our most recent June 2022 the ESTYN, inspectors commented: “The school’s provision for personal and social education is a strength. There is an annual programme covering a wide range of relevant topics. This ensures that the school helps pupils have a strong understanding of important world issues and to reinforce Islamic values.”

The CMPS board and the High School Team have identified a site which meets all our requirements: a building at Cardiff Gate business park named Ty Meridian. Our intention is to secure this building with the help of the community.

This is a new modern building, fit for purpose and up to 50,000sq ft. in size. It is an easily accessible, secure and private site with adequate parking, whilst also being accessible by public transport.

The acquisition of this site will allow us to have a range of excellent amenities for students, including:

  • Large playground - astroturfed areas for school and wider community use
  • Quran and Islamic Studies classes
  • Prayer hall
  • Canteen serving fresh, hot meals
  • Large classrooms
  • IT labs
  • State-of-the-art Science labs and much more!
  • Additionally, a minibus service will be provided for pupils in Cardiff and surrounding areas.

We aim to refit the building to meet the high standards we require. In light of this, we hope to move the primary and high school to the new building in Sept 2024, eventually serving up to 500 children and young people.

Prophet Muhammad (s) said:

‘When a man dies his good deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), beneficial knowledge and a righteous child who will pray for him.’ (Muslim)

Through this project not only can you fulfil all three parts of this hadith but also leave a lasting legacy for Muslim communities in Wales, which will continue to benefit many generations after us Insha’Allah.

Any amount, contribution will be much appreciated and will be put into good use for the betterment of our children, Insha’Allah.

May Allah accept your beautiful donation and record it heavily on your scales. May He grant you and your family happiness, safety from all harm, excellent health and great success in both worlds. Ameen Ya Shakoor.
