Just a little over a year ago, my boyfriend, Dan, and I adopted a 10-week old puppy. We were reeling from the loss of our beloved dog Brady when we met the sweetest, most energetic puppy. It was love at first sight; he chose us the second we chose him. He helped us find our way out of a very hard time. The past year with Stanley (it took 3 days after he got home for Dan to pick his name) has been incredible. He has grown from a tiny lapdog to a massive lapdog. Stanley is playful, still so energetic, and oh so cuddly.

But Monday of last week Dan noticed that overnight his eyes were droopy and leaking, and with every passing hour, he could see less and less. After a nightmarish week and countless vet trips, Stanley was able to see a specialist and was diagnosed with uveitis caused by early-onset cataracts. This is very rare in dogs as young as Stanley, and it is a genetic and unpreventable condition. But we are lucky that although we couldn't keep this from happening, the vets think with surgery, there is a very good chance he will see again. Without surgery, Stanley's cataracts will continue to grow and he will probably eventually develop glaucoma, which there is no treatment for in dogs.

Surgery and the vet visits after are going to be extremely expensive, and we are turning to our friends and family to help us save his eyesight. Unfortunately, time is of the essence to give him the greatest chance at sight. We feel so lucky to have Stanley with us, and so thankful we get to be here to support him through this.
