Help Staff of Margaret's Cantina Pay Their Bills

Dear friends and supporters of Margaret's Cantina, Along with many of our fellow restaurants and businesses in Chapel Hill, we are closed for both dine-in and take-out service due to COVID-19. Like everyone, we are experiencing a waiting game as we monitor the spread of the virus and its impact across the world. The unknown is so scary. As you know, Margaret's has been a staple in Chapel Hill for over 30 years. Commitment to our community is the foundation of our business. We purchase produce from local farmers and businesses, raise funds for local organizations such as Orange County Animal Shelter, and donate food to nonprofit Jenna and Friends Animal Sanctuary. In memory of our founder Margaret Lundy, we donate generously to UNC Parkinson's Research. We embrace local artists and feature their work on our walls.  We love our community, and we know we are loved in return. One of the saddest parts of closing our dine-in service is its impact on our staff. With no in-house customers, the majority of our employees have no income. If you've come to visit us over the last 20 years, surely you've seen some of the same familiar faces in the dining room, behind the bar, and in our kitchen (we're looking at you, Jessie, Laurie, Gretchen, Adolfo, Chris, and others!). We are truly a family here, and we are heartbroken thinking about all the bills that will most certainly pile up on our staff while we're offering limited service. If you have a few dollars to spare, we would greatly appreciate help providing our staff with funds to pay bills during this time. We are grateful beyond words. In return, our commitment to you - our wonderful patrons - and our beloved community will only grow stronger from this ordeal as we count the days until we flip on that neon OPEN sign again.
