Hi, my name is Stacey. I’m a preschool teacher of 26 years. I’ve worked in public school, a Reggio Emilia school, and a Montessori school.
I also happen to be transgender.
Right now, I live in a state that is not safe for me anymore. There have been endless attacks toward the transgender community all throughout my state. The scary part is that the loudest voices of hate are in power, and they are passing law after law targeting me and my community.
An opportunity came up for me to move to a safer place, and I've taken it.
I currently live in Atlanta. HOTLanta, as they like to say, and they’re not kidding. I have lived here for 20 years, and my wardrobe reflects that. Shorts, sundresses, jeans... summer stuff.
Unfortunately, where I’m moving to is pretty cold most of the year.
I’m hoping to raise some money that I can use to get some heavy winter clothes. I need a good jacket, gloves, boots, etc. There will also be a lot of odds and ends that I need to update for the climate, like bed sheets, shovels, and I’m sure 1 million other things that I can’t think of at the moment.
One of the main reasons I can't pass this chance up is because I can bring my two kitty cats, Pixie and Korva. They are my world and I'm very happy I can bring them with me. Moving two cats is expensive, so any donations will also go to help me get my cat there safe as well.
I've never been good at asking for charity, but now is the time I need to ask. Please help me get out of Georgia and keep me warm this winter.
May you all smile in the sun.
